Adopt a Street - Operation P.R.I.D.E
The acronym for “Operation Pride” is:
If you are interested in a cleaner, safer, more beautiful Choctaw, and if you are interested in new and improved facilities and services for your community implemented by your citizens, you will be interested in “Operation Pride”.
Although “Operation Pride” usually starts as a clean-up, fix-up program, it goes far beyond this limited, but important, phase of improvement, to other important community projects, which will enhance the convenience, safety and general welfare of all citizens in the community.
Actually, Operation Pride” is not just a program, it is an “attitude”, “a way of life”, which motivates people to do many unusual things for themselves and their neighbors thus resulting in worthwhile improvements for all.
People have found that through putting their “Unselfish Pride in Their Community” to work, by taking time to envision what their community could be, by putting new ideas to work through cooperative effort, great things can be accomplished.
Accomplishments through “Operation Pride” are only limited by the innovative ideas of local citizens who are interesting in improving their environment. Citizen ideas put to work will make a more healthful and safer community in which to live and work.
It is also realized that a cleaner and more beautiful community is a major asset. However, there is an even greater dividend that evolves from citizens who have pride in their community. Citizens soon realize that the same spirit of cooperation used in beautifying their community can be applied to other areas of community life with equal success. Bond issues usually difficult to gain voter acceptance, and community objectives usually difficult to achieve, find solid support and success because people have learned to work together to make good things happen through pride in their community.
“Operation Pride” works because people give freely of themselves—their time, talent, efforts and resources, to make a better life for themselves, their children, and for all people of the community.
