Choctaw Frontier Days
It’s the 15th Annual Choctaw Frontier Days at Choctaw Creek Park !
We would like to invite you to our 15th Annual Choctaw Frontier Days (formerly known as the Land Run Festival) scheduled for April 19th and 20th, 2018, at Choctaw Creek Park, located on Harper Street between NE 10th Street and NE 23rd Street.
Choctaw is proud to boast that we are the oldest chartered city in the State of Oklahoma. Come help us celebrate the Oklahoma Land Run of April 22, 1889, when the eastern boundary of that run was the Indian Meridian. Today it is known as Indian Meridian Road, which runs north & south through Choctaw.
The event runs from 9am to 2pm. Planned activities are historical presentations, re-enactor encampments, historical figure presentations, cowboy encampments, cavalry encampments, jailhouse, gun fights, old fashioned games, and lot’s more…
This event is free of charge, as well as parking, for the general public. Food and merchandise vendors are present, and everyone is welcome for all activities at any time.
Last April’s festival drew over 2,000 students and 1,000 spectators and was very successful. The students had a lot of fun and hands-on experiences. They just loved it. We hope that you schedule a field trip for your family or students to let them experience this unique living history festival.
As we can accommodate only a fixed number of students, please contact us as soon as possible to schedule your group commitment. Please call City Hall at 405-390-8198 for any questions. You can also print, fill out, and mail the application form.
This is a unique opportunity and teaching tool we hope that you can schedule for your family or your students, and step back in history and enjoy!
